So here’s the question I asked myself. Why not write your story like never before? At the time the world was in a pandemic when people were confined to their homes so the internet became an outlet for connection. I joined a memoir writing group, and when the the opportunity presented itself, I began drafting the story, like never before. A year later with first draft printed I realized the feeling of accomplishment along with healing of the soul.
Backstory of My Writing Journey
In 2013, I made a website and launched my blogging, but didn’t realize what it would entail. But I persevered and wrote. Now revamped, the site performs better, and will provide new content. In the past, life had its moments and topics came up whenever I looked around here and there, especially in family archives, the hilarious and not-so-fun events. Some personal and family challenges transpired during those early years of writing. Authenticity heals the mind and energizes the soul.
Thus without training on creative writing, I jumped into creating a novel while conducting research and joining writers’ groups and conferences. The ‘experts’ say we should start with shorter works before attempting to write a full-length book. Well, I did it backwards then!
My debut fiction story, THE OTHER CHILD, is still selling after five years from a few local bookstores in my hometown of Thunder Bay, plus on Amazon in e-book and paperback forms.
What About Blogging?
I will continue blogging to write short pieces that fit into the greater God story. Life is a book not to be hid under a rock, even when the storm rages or depression mangles your thoughts. When life’s challenges hit and you don’t see what to make of them, know that God is there with his love and presence.
The Bible says if we seek God we can find him, though it may not seem like it sometimes. We can read about him in scriptures for comfort and encouragement, as well as in stories from others.
I will bring inspiration right here through snippets from life experiences in short story form or from a God moment. Peruse through the posts to find a topic that might interest you.
What‘s Your Story Now?
During Covid-19 we had too much time at home. So I came upon letters and cards we exchanged with each other as students. I devoured them all, including between the lines, and summarized each one into a journal, and wondered what’s next. Then sensed God calling me to write a memoir. Why not, since I already had the valid material right in front of me, plus a lifetime of experiences. And besides, a personal story is always cathartic for the writer and the reader who sees their own story through the words on the page. You as a reader, wait and see! It’s coming.
Another full-length book is in the works which will bless you with inspiration in finding purpose and destiny at any stage of life. Plus, I will share excerpts from our personal messages that will entice you to reach out with loved ones in these uncertain times. It’s been a journey!
Besides updates on encouraging short blog posts, I will add a sneak peek from my next book, a memoir of longing for love and God’s guidance through letters and conversations. But in order to get this information in your Inbox, you need to subscribe to my Mailing List.
